Berthe Morisot is one of my favorite artists. Her use of color, texture, and natural light as it danced off of the rolling sea in her many ocean themed paintings inspired me as I worked on this small seascape inspired sculpture. Berthe was a natural beauty, friend of Renoir, and married to Edward Manet’s brother Eugene. Despite her talent and portfolio of over 200 paintings and drawings, she never had her own studio. She painted in her living room when the time allowed.
