I’ll be exhibiting my latest artwork this weekend at the Paradise City Arts Festival in Marlborough, MA. This short video shows my painting process to make my latest #hydrangea painting. I use natural materials such as abaca and cotton to create these works. Message me if you’d like a free ticket to the festival. Can’t make it? Join my mailing list and I’ll send you my online gallery where you can see the work I’ll be exhibiting. I’ve decided to donate 20% of the proceeds to the Red Cross to help the people in Ukraine.

Honestly? It’s been tricky making art these past few weeks seeing the deveststion in that country. Making art feels self-serving given these daily atrosities. Then I remember how the artists active in the early days of the Soviet Union-Alexander Rodchenko, El Lissitzky, shunned beauty in art in favor of an aesthetic that featured propaganda posters and images of the “ideal worker” as if there is such a thing. Beauty is the enemy of war.
