Andy Warhol, (1963), Campbell's Soup. 32 silkscreen prints, MOMA, New York.

Food has been a favorite subject in art history since the beginning of recorded time. From pre-historic cultures that emphasized hunters and gatherers, to famous works of art that celebrate food and the ritual of eating-Leonardo’s Last Supper, Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party, and Andy Warhol’s Soup Cans, food plays a central role in the way we celebrate.

Thanksgiving is a national holiday that originated in New England making this part of the country particularly fond of festivals that celebrate food. For those who love to cook, eat, and celebrate the harvest season and its festivals about food, this lecture will get attendees into the holiday spirit and be the topic of conversation around the table as they share their newfound knowledge about the history of art and food.
