Welcome to my Original Art Gallery

I am inspired by nature. The emotional pull, the sense of wonder, lifegiving space and organic shapes, clusters of color and texture, the magical sense of it all. I want the viewer to move past the surface of the painting, wander deep into the space.  In this way, the viewer finishes the story for themselves as they uncover what lies in the distance. Viewers often comment on the texture of my work. Nature is full of texture, color, and shapes.  These elements create the emotional pull nature has on us.

I paint with abaca which has been beaten in my Hollander Beater for up to 20 hours. Abaca is a fiber from the inner bark of the banana tree. It is extremely strong, acid free, and holds color beautifully. Using abaca as my paint medium is why my work is so textural. By using this versatile medium that has a textured quality, I am able to recreate the many textures of nature in my work.

My slogan “recapture the emotion of nature” comes from using this wonderfully textured material as I seek to capture the textures, colors, and vibrancy of nature.
