I’ve been twirling paper into folded shapes since the 5th grade. I remember sitting at my very uncomfortable desk in a classroom with 25 other kids, most of whom were paying attention to the lesson. Me? I was twisting the pages of my history book around my no. 2 pencil making various shapes that became a story about another world of miniature people who were living deep under the sea.

The idea of twisting and turning shapes into hills and valleys of motion has followed me all through my artistic journey. Adding colors and textures to these early attempts allows me to recreate the feel of ocean waves crashing along the shore, the carefree feeling of riding a bike on a summer’s day, or the trip to the candy store on a lazy afternoon. This time as shadow box sculptures that can be displayed free standing or wall mounted.

How to display: The colors will not fade or discolor when displayed in indirect sunlight. The surface is coated with an acid-free covering so it may be displayed without glass and near a water source.

Materials: These paintings and sculptures are made with abaca fiber, the strongest fiber in the world. Used by the U.S. Navy to moor ships, abaca is used to make tea bags, filament for automobiles (Mercedes Benz), and wallpaper.
