Inspired by Winslow Homer’s painting Fog Warning, where a fisherman is too far from the safety of the shore as a gale storm whips up along the New England coast, the colors of this sculpture reminded me of the ever-changing weather of a New England summer day. The perfect hostess gift for the friend who has invited you to stay at their beach house, the 10 x 10 x 2 inch size will fit neatly on built-in shelves or display free-standing on a tabletop surface. Executed in the tradition of art nouveau, an artistic style that celebrates the natural forms and shapes of nature, the sculpture is made with pigmented abaca, a natural fiber that holds the pigment beautifully, allowing the colors to swim in its liquid form as it searches for its ultimate shape.
How to display:
This original work of art will not fade or discolor when displayed in indirect sunlight. The surface is coated with an acid-free covering so it may be displayed near a water source (coffee centers and bathrooms seem to be popular places to display my work these days). If the artwork gets damp, it will dry without warping.
