This painting is inspired by a field of flowers swaying in the late summer breeze: daisies, coneflowers, Russian Sage. The wildflowers I saw along the highway on my way across New England inspired this painting. Some of the flowers were extraordinary clumps of color scattered amongst litter and decay, while other fields went for miles. No matter how they grew, I couldn’t help but think of the strength in these beautiful blooms, so untended and wild. A show of color that went on all summer long.
